Decking the halls for fall? You might be tempted to scoop up some low-priced items from Dollar Tree, but some will end up costing you more than you’d bargained for.

Here are the items you’re better off buying elsewhere.
Seasonal Collection Artificial Pumpkin
- Price: $5.00
You can’t ring in autumn without a decorative pumpkin, and Dollar Tree is selling foam ones in various colors for $5 each. However, when shopping around, you can find a set of seven foam pumpkins in multiple sizes for $19.67 on Shein. Just four of the Dollar Tree pumpkins would cost you $20, so Shein’s set is a slightly better option.

Pumpkin Pillow
- Price: $6.00
If you’re looking to throw a couple pumpkin pillows on your couch, you’ll be better off shopping at Walmart. You can choose from multiple colors for a pumpkin throw pillow at Walmart for between $3.38 to $3.68 — that’s almost 50% off the Dollar Tree price.
Skull with LED Lights
- Price: $7.00
Haunt your Halloween guests with a skull that lights up with LEDs. Five Below will up the ante and have the light up skull hang with a spooky cape over it for just $2. That deal is better than Dollar Tree’s, and too good to pass up.
Metal Jack-O-Lantern Candle Holder
- Price: $7.00
House candles to create a ghostly scene in these jack-o-lantern candle holders are $7 a piece, or you can spend $17.95 at Country Village Shoppe and get three. The better deal is to only make the one transaction and get a set that would be $3 cheaper than buying three individual holders at Dollar Tree.
Halloween Plush
- Price: $7.00
Who says Halloween can’t be cute and affordable? Dollar Tree offers a selection of six Halloween plush characters for $7 each, but Five Below is selling a variety of Halloween Squishmallows for $5 each.
