NEW DELHI: Australia skipper Matthew Wade won the toss and opted to bowl first against India in the fourth T20I at the SVS International Stadium in Raipur on Friday as they look to level the Twenty20 series without most of their ODI World Cup stars.
After trailing 2-1 in the five-match series, the visiting side made a strong comeback by securing a victory in their previous match. With this win, they are now determined to level the series at 2-2.
Following his match-winning performance with an unbeaten 104 on Tuesday, Glenn Maxwell, along with several other players from the recent ODI World Cup-winning squad, has flown back home.
Travis Head remains the only player from the World Cup-winning team in the Australian side.
In a predictable move, the Indian team made four changes to their squad. Prasidh Krishna was dropped, and Mukesh Kumar returned to the team. Deepak Chahar was brought in to replace Arshdeep Singh.
The batting order also saw changes with Shreyas Iyer making a comeback as vice-captain, taking the place of Tilak Varma. Additionally, Jitesh Sharma, who last played during the Asian Games, was included as the wicketkeeper, filling in for the rested Ishan Kishan.
"We would have chased as well, but our batting unit has been firing well. 1st T20I here, let's see how it goes, very excited. 4 changes for us - Mukesh comes in for Prasidh, Deepak Chahar comes in for Arshdeep, Shreyas replaces Tilak and there is one more change," India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said at the toss.
"We'll bowl again. We have got 5 changes - Stoinis, Maxwell, Inglis, Richardson and Ellis are all out. Credit to the selectors and the coaching staff - they made the decision to send the WC guys back home, it gives an exciting opportunity to the guys coming in," said Wade after winning the toss.
