49ers fill open roster spot, sign veteran CB

The 49ers on Tuesday announced the addition of cornerback Anthony Brown on a one-year deal.

Brown will take the roster spot vacated by Samuel Womack when Womack went on IR the Saturday prior to Week 2.

The Cowboys selected Brown in the sixth round of the 2016 draft. He started 69 of the 94 games he played across seven years in Dallas and posted 316 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 59 pass breakups and nine interceptions.

Cornerback depth could quickly become a problem for San Francisco with Womack on IR and Ambry Thomas working through a knee injury. Brown could wind up seeing playing time at some point in the near future, especially if the team continues to struggle finding its top three CBs.
