After two unremarkable seasons under head coach Kyle Shanahan, 2019 feels like a turning point for the 49ers. A step forward shows their trending the right direction. A step back could mean drastic changes going into next year. That makes the choosing of the 53-man roster all the more important. San Francisco must have their 90-man roster down to 53 by Sept. 1.
