4 things to watch for when Broncos play Titans

The Denver Broncos (1-4) host the Tennessee Titans (2-3) in Week 6, looking for their first back-to-back wins since Weeks 12 and 13 of last season.

After defeating the Los Angeles Chargers last week to get their first win of the season, the Broncos might be able to gain some momentum in a season that looked totally lost not long ago. Of course, if they drop this game to the Titans, those feelings will immediately return.

Here are some things to look for in this game.

1. Last week’s defensive standouts

The adjustments that head coach Vic Fangio made on the defensive ball last week is what led to the Broncos getting their first win. Can those players have a similar performance in this game?

A.J. Johnson, Kareem Jackson and Mike Purcell all played key roles in the team’s win last week. Keep an eye on those three players on Sunday.

2. Sack party

The Broncos don’t have Bradley Chubb and they have not been the most ferocious pass-rushing team this season, but the defense could have a big game in this one.

Marcus Mariota has been sacked more than any quarterback in the league through five games so the Broncos should dial up the pressure on Sunday.

3. Containing Derrick Henry

If the Titans win this game, it’s either going to be because the Broncos turned the ball over too many times or because they couldn’t stop Derrick Henry.

The Broncos did a great job in slowing down the Chargers’ rushing attack last week, but they did allow over 200 yards to Leonard Fournette just two weeks ago. Henry is similar to Fournette in that he is a straight-ahead, downhill runner. He’s almost never stopped by the first tackler.

This will be a tough test for the Denver defense.

4. Big day for Noah Fant?

Noah Fant is starting to come into his own during his rookie season and week by week, Joe Flacco is building trust in him. Through five games, the Titans have allowed four touchdowns to tight ends. Only the Arizona Cardinals have given up more.

Fant could be a solid option for Flacco and the Denver offense in this game.
