4 things to know about Dolphins-Giants heading into Week 5

The Miami Dolphins are staying at home in Miami Gardens, Florida this week to take on the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon for a Week 5 matchup.

Miami suffered a tough loss against the Buffalo Bills last week that knocked them down to 3-1 and second place in the AFC East. They were riding high the first three weeks, but Sean McDermott and company gave them a few things they need to work on if they want to be considered true contenders.

Brian Daboll’s team lost to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night football in Week 4, giving up 11 sacks in the process. Between the poor play on the field and young offensive linemen fighting with the fans off of it, things aren’t going well so far in their 2023 campaign.

Here are a few things that the Dolphins and Giants fanbases should know and think about before the game.

The Dolphins are 3-7 all-time against the Giants, and they’re 1-3 since 2010. Miami is also just 2-3 against New York on the road.

The two teams last met in 2021, with that game resulting in a 20-9 win for Brian Flores and the Dolphins. However, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was injured, so they started Mike Glennon in the contest. Miami’s defense got after it in that game, recording an interception, three sacks, five passes defensed and seven tackles for a loss.

The Dolphins are entering this contest without left tackle Terron Armstead, meaning Kendall Lamm will get his third start of the season already at the position.

They may also be without key starters like center Connor Williams, linebacker Jaelan Phillips and safety DeShon Elliott, who all missed last week’s battle with the Bills.

For the Giants, their left tackle, left guard and center were all non-participants on Wednesday, so things aren’t trending well for an offensive line that already wasn’t great.
