36-year-old man dies in horror smash at Harthill service station

A man has died after his car struck a stationary HGV lorry at a West Lothian service station.

The 36 year old passed away at the scene of the crash in the car park at Harthill Services on Sunday (March 29) at 2.20am.

Police say the man’s black Renault Laguna appeared to lose control as it entered at the slip road to the service station, before it mounted a grass verge and crashed into a HGV that was parked in the lorry car park.

They have appealed for dashcam footage of the car, which was travelling westbound towards Glasgow.

Nobody else was injured and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man’s identity remains unknown until his next of kin are informed.
