NAGPUR: The fourth season of India's first multisport grassroots festival Khasdar Krida Mahotsav (KKM) is set to be bigger and better.
The event, to be played across the city from May 13 to 28, carries a prize money of 93 lakh. In the 16-day sporting extravaganza, 33 games will be played at 39 venues and as many as 560 trophies and 7,830 medals will be distributed to podium finishers.
After a pandemic gap of almost two years, the dates of the fourth edition of KKM were announced at a city hotel on Sunday. Over a 1,000 players and officials joined the event where Union minister for road and highways Nitin Gadkari announced the dates and various sporting disciplines and distributed flags to the association representatives.
Vijay Barse, of Jhund movie-fame and former sports teacher of the city, was the guest of honour and launched the KKM website - www.khasdarkridamahotsav.com. Chief convener of the event and former mayor Sandip Joshi gave introductory remarks.
The 33 games in the 16-day sporting event, where over 40,000 sportspersons are expected to participate, are football, kho-kho, lawn tennis, basketball, carrom, athletics, swimming, volleyball, badminton, hockey, chess, kabaddi, table tennis, cycling, girls box cricket, wrestling, bodybuilding, divyang games, archery, taekwondo, boxing, rifle shooting, fencing, malkhamb, gymnastics, bench press powerlifting, yog kriya, judo, soft ball, sepak takraw, handball, tug of war, and marathon.
On the occasion, MLC Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLC Pravin Datke, MP Vikas Mahatme and members of the organizing committee were present.
