3 Top S&P 500 Stock Market Gainers Today: Coronavirus Vaccine Maker Moderna Jumps

Moderna, Match Group and Fortinet were the top three S&P 500 index gainers on the stock market today. Charles River Labs, Schlumberger and Halliburton were the S&P 500's biggest losers on Monday.

MRNA stock popped 7.2% to 150.41. Coronavirus vaccine maker Moderna sank 15% last week, as a bounce from March lows continued to fade.

MTCH jumped 6.7% to 82.48. But that's after the owner of Match.com and Tinder hit a 23-month low intraday. Match stock tumbled 16% last week.

FTNT stock rallied 6.3% to 323.49, moving back above its 200-day and 50-day lines. On Thursday, Fortinet stock broke out past a 352.08 handle buy point, but reversed sharply lower, sliding again on Friday. That handle buy point is no longer valid, though FTNT stock could form a new handle.

S&P 500 Losers

CRL stock tumbled 7.25 to 253.64, the lowest point since January 2021. Jefferies downgraded Charles River Labs, which provides a lot of clinical and preclinical services for drugmakers, citing reduced spending by biotechs.

SLB stock fell 7.1% to 38.69. U.S. crude oil futures tumbled below $100 a barrel on Monday as China's Covid lockdowns raise demand concerns. That could curb demand for oilfield services firms such as Schlumberger and Halliburton, which both topped EPS views last week. SLB stock gapped below its 50-day line and undercut the low of its recent consolidation.

HAL stock lost 6.3% to 35.33, undercutting its 50-day line for the first time in 2022. Halliburton stock on Tuesday morning hit its best level in nearly five years, but reversed lower and kept falling.
