If you have been watching the news lately, you know that the Trump administration has enacted historically high tariffs on nearly every country importing goods to America, only to retract or delay them as a result of their economic fallout.

Perhaps, as well, you have been watching all of the whiplashing tariff updates on your television and thought it might be a good time to get a new smart TV before prices go up. Forbes estimated that there could be as much as a 34.5% price increase on imported electronics, particularly if they are produced in China.

TCL

Hisense

Another smart TV that is made in China and uses Chinese supply chains is Hisense. It could be one of the imported TV brands that has less mid-range models available to American consumers and probably won’t come with a manufacturer’s discount or fit into a middle-class budget as easily.

Vizio

While Vizio is an American company, the assembly of most of the smart TVs Vizio produces happens in China, putting it into a position of having a big uptick in cost, as well as less competitive pricing against smart TVs made and imported from other countries.
