3 shot Wednesday in Chicago

Three people were wounded Wednesday in citywide shootings.

In the day’s latest shooting, a 34-year-old man was injured in Lawndale on the West Side.

He was standing on a sidewalk about 10:50 p.m. in the 4200 block of West 21st Place when someone in a dark-colored sedan opened fire, Chicago police said. The man was hit in the ankle.

A friend took him to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.

A few minutes earlier, a 47-year-old woman was found shot in West Rogers Park on the North Side.

About 10:45 p.m., officers found the woman in an alley in the 6000 block of North Fairfield Avenue with a gunshot wound to the right leg, police said.

She was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where her condition was stabilized, police said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.

In the day’s first reported shooting, a man was hurt in Roseland on the South Side.

About 2:24 p.m., the 35-year-old was in the 9400 block of South Calumet Avenue when he was hit by gunfire, police said. He was struck in the thigh and grazed in the shoulder.

The man took himself to Trinity Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating.

On Tuesday, eight people were shot — one of them fatally — in Chicago.
