Three Iran-backed Houthi commanders have been killed in battles with the Yemeni army on a front in Qania, in central Yemen’s Bayda province, the defense ministry announced Saturday.

A field source identified the dead men as Hamid Ahmed Younis al-Kreidi, Ali Dahan Farhan al-Abadi and Ismail Yehya al-Gharbani.

They were killed in clashes pitting the Yemeni army and the popular resistance forces against Houthi insurgents.

Also Saturday, Yemeni security forces said they killed a senior ISIS commander in a gunbattle in the interim capital Aden.

Counterterrorism forces surrounded Saleh Nasser Fadhl al-Bakshi in a building, according to a statement by Aden police, when he and fellow militants refused to surrender.

In the ensuing shootout, one of the counter-terrorism force members was killed along with al-Bakshi. Two other members were injured.

Three of the terrorist’s comrades were arrested, it added.
