3 Christmas Items To Avoid Buying From Sam’s Club in 2025

Sam’s Club is usually a solid bet for buying items in bulk and home staples.

But when it comes to holiday shopping, not everything is worth your money. Some Christmas items at Sam’s may be overpriced, lower quality than expected or simply better bought elsewhere. Here are some Christmas items you might want to skip at Sam’s Club this year.

Holiday-Themed Dinnerware Sets

Sam’s Club sells many Christmas-themed dinnerware sets, but if you have a small family, buying these sets may not make financial sense. The designs are cute, but many of these sets are bulk-sized, which means you’ll end up with far more pieces than you realistically need for a small gathering.

Instead, just get a couple of neutral or holiday-themed plates and bowls from Target, HomeGoods or Ikea so you won’t be stuck storing a giant box of dishes you use only once a year.

Oversize Holiday Gift Baskets

Sam’s Club sells giant gift baskets during the holidays, but bigger doesn’t always mean better. Some items may be generic brands or mini portions. Plus, the baskets are premade, so you may get items in the baskets you don’t necessarily want.

Instead of buying these oversize holiday gift baskets from Sam’s Club, curate your own basket using items from Trader Joe’s or your local grocery store. This way, you get to customize your own gift and potentially spend less.

Bulk Boxes of Cookies and Bakery Samplers

The cookie trays and bakery combo boxes from Sam’s look festive, but they can sometimes be hit or miss. For example, this assorted cookie tray has lots of positive reviews, but many reviewers also commented that they were hard and didn’t have the best flavor.

If you don’t want to buy cookies in bulk and end up liking only a few of them, consider getting your desserts from local bakeries. If you have the time and energy, you can also find easy DIY cookie recipes online and bake a small batch at home.
