2nd Test: Ravichandran Ashwin becomes India's leading wicket-taker against England

NEW DELHI: Known for his variations and ability to extract turn and bounce from pitches, Ravichandran Ashwin is widely regarded as one of the best spin bowlers in the world.

Ashwin has been particularly successful in Test cricket and is known for his intelligent and strategic bowling, often outsmarting batsmen with his variations.

Ashwin achieved another record on the fourth day of the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam when he dismissed Ollie Pope when India captain Rohit Sharma took a quick reflex catch in the slips.

Ashwin broke the record of former Indian leg-spinner Bhagwat Chandrasekhar to take the most wickets for India against England in Test cricket.

Ollie Pope became the 96th English batsman to be dismissed by Ashwin, who then also dismissed Joe Root to further increase his tally.

Chandrasekhar had taken 95 English wickets in his Test career, followed by Anil Kumble (92), Bishan Singh Bedi/Kapil Dev (85) and Ishant Sharma (67).
