JAIPUR: Nearly a dozen suspects abducted a 21-year-old man from Jhotwara and shot dead him before breaking his legs late Monday night in a suspected case of a gang fight. The accused dumped the victim, Sunny Soni’s body on a desolated farmland in Kardhani
DCP (West) Richa Tomar said the victim’s family on Monday night had filed a missing complaint at the Jhotwara police station when he could not be found. The Jaipur police Tuesday morning received input from the control room that a body was found on a farm. Senior officials including Tomar, and ACP (Jhotwara) Pramod Kumar Swami arrived at the farm to examine the crime scene.
“Soni was booked in nine different cases, including assault, theft and burglary,” Tomar said.
The victim’s friend, Shahbaz, said that he was chatting with Soni last night. “Around 11 pm, one Micky called Soni and asked him to meet him. Soni gave his location to Micky over the phone and we waited for him,” he said.
Shahbaz alleged that shortly before 11.30 pm, nearly a dozen suspects in two cars arrived at the scene. “They (suspects) had held Micky captive in their car. Both Sunny and I fled from the place, but these men continued to follow us,” he said, adding that while he hid in a room, the accused got hold of his friend when he fell down.
The accused abducted Soni and sped away from the scene. His family members became increasingly worried when he could not be found anywhere. Soni’s brother-in-law, Harish, said that he called on Soni’s mobile phone but somebody else answered.
“We rushed to the Jhotwara police station to report that he (Soni) had gone missing, and it is likely that anything could happen to him,” he said.
The victim’s family and friends alleged that the assailants were the same who had earlier attacked him with knives over a scuffle.
Tomar said that the city police were scanning the CCTVs to track down the suspects.
