21-strong contingent heading for MIPIM in Cannes under ‘Team Nottingham’ banner

More than 20 businesses and organisations from across the Nottinghamshire property sector will fly the flag for the city and county at this month’s MIPIM showcase in the south of France.

The group - which includes property professionals from leading firms across the county – will attend the international property event in Cannes, which runs between March 14 and 17.

The event – which uses the same conference centre that hosts the annual Cannes Film Festival – is a global stage for property and development opportunities attracting thousands of investors and developers. Attendees say it is a good opportunity to make new contacts and strike deals in a relaxed setting.

The Notts line-up includes framework procurement business Pagabo, Bentley Project Management, CODE Students, developer Conygar – which is behind Nottingham’s Island Quarter site – CPMG, CPW and law firm Geldards.

Liz Cartwright of Cartwright Communications has worked closely with Lorraine Baggs of Invest in Nottingham, to bring the team together.

She said: “MIPIM is the world’s biggest property investment showcase, and a fantastic opportunity to not only put Nottingham in the shop window, but also talk about the great work being done by both the public and private sector in the city.

“Following a successful return to Cannes in 2022 after missing two years during the pandemic, Team Nottingham will continue to shout about the momentum we currently have in the city and the great opportunities for growth and investment at the biggest event on Europe’s property and investment calendar.”

“Over the past few years, Nottingham has succeeded in establishing a recognisable presence at MIPIM.

“It’s been a challenging couple of years in terms of Covid but we wanted to maintain a presence at MIPIM until next year when Nottingham City Council and Invest in Nottingham will be there in force.”

Lorraine Baggs, head of investment at Invest in Nottingham, said: “Invest in Nottingham has had to take a very difficult decision not to have an official presence at MIPIM this year.

“However, we very strongly believe that it is absolutely right to sell the city to potential inward investors because that represents a key plan of our efforts to grow the city economy and create new jobs and new opportunities for people.”

Jason Stapley, managing director at Pagabo, said: “Nottingham’s presence at MIPIM is essential in highlighting the growth that the property sector in the city is seeing, while marketing it as a continuous avenue for investment.

“Our headline sponsorship of Team Nottingham in Cannes stems from our desire to support the Pagabo ecosystem in Nottingham and continue to shout about the great work happening in the city.”

Carl Humpage, director at mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers CPW, said: “Team Nottingham has an important role to play at MIPIM – helping to attract investment as well as reminding people of Nottingham’s potential and the many opportunities it has to offer.

“We recently moved into a new city centre office space, solidifying our investment and presence here, so we’re very proud to be part of the 2023 team.”

Matt Hannah, managing director at property agency Innes England, said: “We have attended MIPIM to support private clients and Team Nottingham for many years and always look forward to the opportunity not only to network with new and long-standing connections during the week, but also to tell the Nottingham story on a global stage.”
