Snow predicted for Nottingham despite current 20C temperatures

Nottingham looks set to bask in high temperatures today (Tuesday March 30) after rule of six outside returned - but it could be short-lived.

The Met Office predicts highs of 20C in the city today with the sunshine expected to last all day.

There is only a slight breeze predicted and no rain is forecast.

It comes after a popular Nottingham park was packed out with people throughout the afternoon amid the sunshine and return of the rule of six on Monday March 29.

Pictures showed a large number of people gathering in groups in the Arboretum in the evening.

However some forecasters have predicted possible snow on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week (April 5, 6, 7) when temperatures are expected to dip back to single figures.

Outdoor gatherings of up to six people are also now allowed, meaning people may gather in gardens or parks without being dispersed, as was seen recently in the Arboretum amid the sunshine.

The easing of the rules forms the second stage of step one of the Prime Minister's roadmap out of lockdown and follows schools reopening on March 8.

Here's the Met Office outlook for the week ahead in the region:

Today:

Any early mist or fog patches will soon clear to reveal a dry day with prolonged periods of sunshine. Winds will be light, and it will feel very warm through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

After a fine end to the day, it will stay dry overnight with clear spells and light winds. Turning chilly, especially in the countryside. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Fine on Wednesday with sunny spells and light winds allowing it to become very warm again through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

A cloudy start on Thursday but turning brighter and much colder. Thereafter remaining chilly but dry with some sunny spells by day but cold overnight with a risk of frost.
