207 villages in Bihar to get 4G mobile connectivity

PATNA: Union cabinet has approved an ambitious plan to provide 4G mobile connectivity to 207 villages located in 14 districts of Bihar, while 1,615 villages in 23 districts of Jharkhand will be covered under this project. The Union government is likely to provide 4G mobile connectivity in at least 24,680 remote villages across the country at an estimated cost of 26,316 crore.

According to ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Birendra Kumar, railway minster Ashwini Vaishnaw, who happens to be in charge of ministry of communications and electronics and IT, piloted this ambitious project of PM Narendra Modi's vision .

Accordingly, the railway ministry has released a list of villages of Bihar and Jharkhand likely to benefit most with this approval by the Union cabinet on Thursday. In Bihar, Aurangabad district has one village followed by Banka (4), Begusarai (2), Gaya (12), Jamui (13), Kaimur (125), Lakhisarai (one), Munger (4), Nawada (11) and Sitamarhi (one), he said.

Similarly, in Jharkhand, 27 villages will get this facility in Bokaro district followed by Chatra (161), Deoghar (33), Dhanbad (one), Dumka (117), Garhwa (28), Giridih (5), Godda (32), Gumla (91), Hazaribagh (30), Jamdaha (one), Khunti (88), Koderma (30), Latehar (81), Lohardaga (28), Pakur (6), Palamu (136), West Singhbhum (177), East Singhbhum (279), Ramgarh (18), Ranchi (6), Sahebganj (96), Saraikela (35) and Simdigha (109), he said.

According to railway sources, this facility is a major steps towards providing facilities like broadband, e-governance, banking network, tele medicines, tele education and other online facilities in remote villages of these two states which have been deprived of faster mobile network connectivity.
