Each week, we highlight the best NFL performances from former SuperWest players.
This week might have been one of the most difficult to pare down, as we saw so many solid performances around the league.
Here are my choices for the best of them.
Top NFL Performances
1. Puka Nacua, WR, Rams/BYU
Nacua had a great night on the field on Thursday night.
The former Cougar caught 12 passes for a career-high 225 yards in the Rams’ thrilling loss at Seattle. Two of the 12 receptions went for TD’s.
It is remarkably just the second time Nacua has caught multiple TD passes in a single game, and it comes just two weeks after doing it for the first time.
2. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Raiders/Boise State (R)
The former Boise State phenom had one of his best games as a pro in the loss at Houston.
Jeanty ran for 128 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for a 60-yard touchdown in the 23-21 defeat.
Jeanty is the third rookie all-time with at least 50 receptions, five rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns.
3. Jared Goff, QB, Lions/Cal
Jared Goff completed 34 of 54 pass attempts for 364 yards and three touchdowns in the Lions loss to the Steelers.
The former Golden Bear has 4,036 passing yards and 32 touchdowns this season and is the sixth quarterback all-time with at least 4,000 passing yards and 30 touchdown passes in three consecutive seasons.
Goff is the fifth player in NFL history with at least 350 passing yards in 20 games in his first 10 career seasons
4. Carson Schwesinger, LB, Browns/UCLA (R)
The rookie out of UCLA continues to be a tackling machine for the Browns.
He recorded 14 tackles, a sack, and 2 QB hits against Buffalo on Sunday.
The former Bruin has had at least 10 tackles in each of his past six games, tying Luke Kuechly for the longest such streak by a rookie since 2000.
Schwesinger now has at least 10 tackles in seven games this season, the fifth most by a rookie since 2000.
5. Bobby Wagner, LB, Commanders/Utah State
The Washington offense certainly struggled in the loss to the Eagles, and the defense did not pick them up too much.
But it was not for lack of effort by the former Aggie.
Wagner tallied 10 tackles for the Commanders, and the former Utah State star added a sack and two tackles for loss.
6. Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers/Oregon
Herbert completed 79% of his passes in the win over Dallas on Sunday.
The former Duck threw for 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns, marking the third time in the last four games that he has reached the 300-yard mark. He also added 42 yards and a TD on the ground.
Herbert has thrown for at least 300 yards in 31 games since entering the NFL in 2020, the third-most such games in a player’s first six seasons in NFL history. Only Patrick Mahomes and Dan Marino had more.
7. Taysom Hill, QB/TE, Saints/BYU
The Swiss army knife of a player showed his versatility in the Saints’ win over the Jets.
The former BYU QB produced 42 yards on the ground, caught four passes for 36 yards, and threw a 38-yard TD pass to Chris Olave. He also came up big on a fake punt for New Orleans.
Hill joins Christian McCaffrey as the only players since 1990 with at least 35 passing yards, 35 rushing yards, and 35 receiving yards in a single game.
He now has 23 career games with a completed pass, rush attempt, and reception, surpassing John David Crow (22 games) for the most such games in NFL history.
8. Caleb Williams, QB, Bears/USC
Williams continues to play very good football in year two for the first place Bears.
He helped Chicago put a stranglehold on their lead in the division with a comeback win over Green Bay to run their record to 11-4.
In the win, the former Trojan tallied 250 yards passing and a pair of TDs while adding 30 yards on the ground.
9. Romeo Doubs, WR, Packers/Nevada
Doubs recorded the only TD for the Packers in the loss to the Bears on Saturday night hauling in a 33 yard TD reception from Malik Willis in the third quarter.
For the night, the former Wolf Pack pass catcher caught five balls for 84 yards and the TD.
10. Bobby Okereke, LB, Giants/Stanford
The Giants fell to the Vikings in a defensive showdown.
The New York defense was led by the former Stanford LB, who racked up 13 tackles in the loss.
He also knocked down a pass to get credited with a pass defended.
11. Bo Nix, QB, Broncos/Oregon
Denver fell to the Jaguars on Sunday, but the second-year QB out of Oregon put up some numbers in the defeat.
Nix threw for 352 yards and a touchdown and added 11 more yards on the ground for the Broncos.
The former Duck has 53 career touchdown passes, tied for the third-most touchdown passes by a player in their first two seasons in NFL history.
12. Alex Singleton, LB, Broncos/Montana State
The former Bobcat continues to have a big season for the Broncos.
In the loss to Jacksonville, he tallied a team high 13 tackles.
That figure also marks a season high in stops and his most in a game since the finale in the 2023 season.
13. Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers/Stanford
The former Cardinal racked up 146 yards of total offense in the 49ers’ win over the Colts.
McCaffrey had 117 yards on the ground and 29 receiving yards with two touchdowns.
14. Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Panthers/Arizona (R)
The rookie out of Arizona hauled in a 22-yard TD in the Panthers’ win over the reeling Buccaneers.
McMillan and Bryce Young connected six times on ten targets for 73 yards to lead the way in the win.
