Week 10 in the NFL saw some phenomenal performances from players who played collegiately in the West.
Each week, we highlight the region’s best pro performances from the standout alumni veterans and rookies
Here are my choices for the best of them.
Top NFL Performances
1. Jared Goff, QB, Lions/California
The former Cal Bear completed 75.8% of his passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns with a rating of 135.9 in the Lions’ win over Washington.
Goff is the third player in NFL history to have at least 45 games with 300+ passing yards in their first 10 career seasons.
He now has 27 career games with at least three touchdown passes and no interceptions, the fourth-most such games by a player in NFL history through his first 10 seasons.
2. Caleb Williams, QB, Bears/USC
The former USC QB threw for 220 yards and a touchdown and added another score on the ground along with 63 rushing yards as he led the Bears to a comeback over the Giants.
Both Williams’ scores came in a frantic fourth quarter as he led Chicago to a pair of scoring drives in the final four minutes of the game to get the 24-20 win.
His TD on the ground was the game-winner with 1:47 to play.
3. Drake London, WR, Falcons/USC
London collected 104 yards and a TD on six receptions in the OT loss to the Colts in Germany.
The former USC star topped 100 receiving yards for the fourth time in his last five games.
4. Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers/Stanford
The former Stanford star finished with 96 scrimmage yards (66 receiving, 30 rushing) in the game against the Rams.
McCaffrey, who has 626 rushing yards and 692 receiving yards this season, is the third player in NFL history with at least 600 rushing yards and 600 receiving yards in four career seasons.
He is also one of just three players in NFL history with the above in his team’s first 10 games of a season.
5. Talanoa Hufanga, S, Broncos/USC
The former Trojan stepped up in a defensive showdown with the Raiders last Thursday night.
The Broncos came away with a 10-7 win, and Hufanga played a key role, leading Denver with nine tackles and adding a sack and a QB hit.
6. Davis Mills, QB, Texas/Stanford
The former Cardinal stepped into the starting role for Houston and delivered a divisional win over the Jaguars.
Mills threw for 292 yards and a pair of touchdowns and added another score on the ground along with 20 yards, all in the fourth quarter, to secure the comeback win.
7. Trey McBride, TE, Cardinals/Colorado State
The Cardinals came up short against Seattle on Sunday, but the former CSU Ram had a big game in the loss.
McBride caught nine passes for 127 yards and a TD.
8. Sam Darnold, QB, Seahawks/USC
The former Trojan threw for 178 yards and a touchdown for a 111.8 rating during the Seahawks’ 44-22 win over Arizona.
This was his sixth game this season with a rating of 100+.
Darnold is the only player in NFL history to record a passer rating of 100-or-higher in at least six games of a player’s first nine games with a team multiple times, as he accomplished the same feat last season, his first in Minnesota.
9. Josh Allen, QB, Bills/Wyoming
The Bills were stunned in Miami on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Dolphins 30-13.
The former Wyoming Cowboy still had a strong outing for Buffalo, throwing for 310 yards and a couple of TDs while adding 31 yards on the ground.
10. Cole Bishop, S, Bills/Utah
The former Ute picked off the second pass of his career in the Bills’ loss to Miami.
Bishop also added seven tackles, tying the second most of his career.
11. Rome Odunze, WR, Bears/Washington
The former Husky caught six passes for 86 yards in the Bears win over New York.
One of his six receptions went for six points as he hauled in a Caleb Williams pass for a late score to cut the deficit to three.
12. Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers/Oregon
The Chargers collected a huge win over the Steelers on Sunday Night.
The former Duck was efficient in the dominant win, throwing for 220 yards and a TD.
He added 19 yards on the ground.
