The tight end position has seed renewed importance in the last few seasons with the likes of Travis Kelce and Sam LaPorta leading the way. This could mean a higher draft position for future tight ends in the upcoming classes.
This years group of tight ends has a few stars and hidden gems littered throughout the draft. Let’s take a look at the top five players of that group before we get to pre-draft process.
1. Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
Head and shoulder above the rest of this tight end class without much debate, Brock Bowers will maintain his status as the top tight end and one of the best weapons in this entire class.
A certified playmaker in crucial moments for Georgia, Bowers possesses the entire package as a tight end and will carry over his unstoppable nature to the next level. Not much development needed here, he will be a starting tight end from day one.
2. Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
More built for a less traditional tight end role, Ja”tavion Sanders is one of the most explosive athletes in this entire class. While he may be a bit of a liability in the blocking game at the next level, his athletic ability in the receiving game is going to make him an invaluable piece at the next level.
Sanders and Bowers are not quite the same prospect and Sanders may be viewed as more of a big “slot receiver” than a traditional tight end. The NFL is always looking for the next big tight end threat, and Sanders could be it.
3. Ben Sinnott, TE, Kansas State
One of the more complete packages of this tight end class, Ben Sinnott is going to make a team better from day one. A willing and able blocked alongside a well rounded route runner makes Sinnott invaluable as a day two type of player.
Sinnott may not have the athletic upside of others in this class but his pro readiness and offensive fire starter mentality is going to get NFL teams excited to slide him into their starting lineup.
4. Dallin Holker, TE, Colorado State
Perhaps a bit of a sleeper in this class is the reliable and versatile Dallin Holker. Showing up in big moments for Colorado State he ended up as their top weapon this past season and has a skillset that translates to the next level.
Holker had a breakout year and did the most damage against some of the teams top opponents and could end up as a teams starting tight end. His athleticism and explosiveness limit him some, but he is still one of the better receiving tight end threats in this class.
5. Cade Stover, TE, Ohio State
A mean tight end that punishes defenders after the catch Cade Stover is a coaches player and will have little trouble finding success at the next level.
Stover has plenty of athletic ability and ball skills to walk into a franchise and develop into an eventual starter. His ferocity and yards after contact ability makes him a nice target early on in his career.
