2024 NFL Draft: Keon Coleman scouting report

A big time playmaker this past season for Florida State, wide receiver Keon Coleman looks to take his elite playmaking abilities to the next level as he enters the 2024 NFL Draft.

Here is everything you need to know about the Seminoles top weapon:

Vitals

Height: 6-4

Weight: 215

Class: Junior

Strengths

A receiver possessing prototypical size and athletic prowess, Keon Coleman steps into a loaded receiver class as one of college footballs most reliable targets in the big moments.

Given Coleman’s length and play strength he excelled at contested ball situations, consistently out muscling his defender for the football and putting smaller defensive backs to shame on the jump ball. Coleman is able to contort his big body in a way to box out defenders behind him and grasp at the football with strong and reliable vice grip hands.

Once Coleman has the ball in his hands he is a wrecking ball of a runner, blowing through arm tackles and consistently gaining extra yardage through contact. This same play strength and wrecking ball nature shows up at the line as well, making it extremely difficult for defensive backs to jam Coleman up, even ones that can match his size.

In his one season with Florida State Coleman put up excellent numbers for a run heavy offense. Reeling in 50 catches for 658 yards, and 11 touchdowns in twelve games with the Seminoles.

Weaknesses

The most glaring issue with Coleman is his lack of real top end speed. While he is plenty fast for his size and enough so to play in the NFL, it would be a tough ask for him to really challenge defenses deep and is going to be locked into a role at the next level which could limit his draft stock.

Coleman will also need to expand on his route tree at the next level, as he often was assigned the same few routes given just how good he was at executing them.

Projection

In a stacked wide receiver class Keon Coleman stands out as one of the better physical specimens who can be an absolute game wrecker. Though his down the field prowess is limited because of his speed, he is going to give defensive backs nightmares with the ball in the air as well as in his hands. Coleman’s ability to beat defenders to the ball with limited separation and blow through contact is going to make him an instant starter in the NFL.

Projection: Top 50
