2019 NFL Draft: Titans select Mississippi State DL Jeffery Simmons with No. 19 overall pick

The Tennessee Titans have officially made their first selection of the 2019 NFL Draft with 19th overall pick.

The team chose to bolster the defensive line by selecting Mississippi State defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons in the first round.

Simmons was originally expected to be picked in the top ten earlier on, but his draft stock took a slight hit after he tore his ACL in February.

Many viewed Simmons as “the best player in this draft,” but between the injury and some character concerns, some teams were wary of him.

The only real concern with Simmons is his ability to bounce back from the ACL tear he sustained in February, which is expected to keep him out of the top 10.

On the 2018 season, the 6-foot-4, 300-pounder recorded 23 tackles, 35 assists, two sacks and one forced fumble. In his time at Mississippi State Simmons racked up 55 tackles, 102 assists, seven sacks and four forced fumbles over three seasons.
