2019 NFL draft: Steelers schedule visit with WR Andy Isabella

The Pittsburgh Steelers have dedicated considerable time and resources this offseason to the wide receiver position. From the moment it was decided Antonio Brown would be traded, Pittsburgh has been focused on re-loading at wide receiver to replace Brown.

Pittsburgh signed Donte Moncrief as a free agent but this won’t preclude them from drafting one as well. One wide receiver the Steelers have their eye on is Andy Isabella of UMass. According to NFL writer Connor Livesay, the Steelers will be meeting with Isabella on Sunday.

Isabella burst on the scene in 2018. After having a fairly quiet career, Isabella hauled in 102 passes for 1,698 receiving yards as a senior. Isabella’s entire game is predicated on his elite speed and quickness. He’s nearly impossible to jam at the line because if you miss he beats you deep. But with such quick feet he can take advantage of off coverage with sharp cuts.

It’s hard to watch Isabella player and not see similarities between his game and the game of Brown coming out of college. Isabella is likely a mid-round pick due to some problems with his game like inconsistent hands and penalties but if the value it there he’d be a great sleeper pick for the Steelers.
