2 Jaipur cops suspended for sharing objectionable post

JAIPUR: One assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a constable were suspended after they allegedly shared an objectionable post on social media that reached a resident of Subash Chowk in the city on Friday.

DCP (North) Paris Deshmukh told TOI that ASI Satveer Singh of the traffic police and Jawahar Circle police station constable Ramesh have been suspended for their alleged misbehaviour. “We have suspended the two cops and an officer of the assistant commissioner of police (ACP) rank is investigating the matter,” Deshmukh said.

According to officials, the constable had shared the objectionable post on social media, which the ASI sent to some others. The post reached a person who lives under the Manak Chowk police station area.

Several people expressed their anger about the alleged objectionable social media post. Police officials took notice of the matter and launched a preliminary investigation.

Deshmukh said the report prima facie indicated that two cops were behind the post and took action against them. “The investigation into the case is underway. We found that the social media post was very objectionable and, therefore, took adequate action,” Deshmukh said.

Police said they made sure that no untoward situation occurred and brought things quickly under control.
