Duo charged with breaking into parked vehicles in Gold Coast

Two men face charges after four parked vehicles were broken into early Wednesday in Gold Coast on the Near North Side.

Larry McGee, 50, and Willis Baker, 38, both face a felony count of burglary, according to Chicago police.

Just after midnight, officers responding to a call of a suspicious person breaking into parked vehicles in the first block of East Scott Street, Chicago police said.

Officers saw a man using an object to break the window of a vehicle and take items from inside, police said. The man then got into a waiting black SUV and fled the scene with another man.

The pair was arrested after driving the wrong direction in the 900 block of North Inner Lake Shore Drive, police said.

McGee also faces misdemeanor counts of driving on a suspended license and theft, police said. Baker also faces a misdemeanor count each of theft and criminal trespass to vehicles.

They are due in court Wednesday.
