Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner found dead in LA home in "apparent homicide"

Rob Reiner, director of classic movies "When Harry Met Sally" and "The Princess Bride," and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, died Sunday in an "apparent homicide" at their Los Angeles home, per officials and a family spokesperson.

The latest: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner," said a spokesperson for the family of Reiner, who rose to fame acting in hit 1970s sitcom "All in the Family," in a media statement.


  • "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

Zoom in: The couple's bodies were found inside the Brentwood home that the 78-year-old director of beloved films "This is Spinal Tap," "Stand By Me" and "A Few Good Men" shared with Singer Reiner, 68, in the Westside region of L.A., per an L.A. Fire Department media statement

  • L.A. Police Department officers found them after responding to "a death investigation" at the home, according to an LAPD post to X.
  • "Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) responded to the residence, which has been identified as the home of Rob Reiner," said LAPD in the post.

Background: In addition to directing Hollywood blockbusters, Reiner is known for his work as an actor, producer, screenwriter and liberal activist.
