A US airstrike on Iran’s Qeshm Island struck a family home, according to Iranian officials and an analysis by The New York Times of available footage.

The strike hit a densely populated residential area in Qeshm City in the early hours of Thursday. NYT identifies the weapon as likely a 2,000-pound Mark-84 bomb, one of the largest conventional bombs used by the US military.
Iranian officials identified the victims as Zahra Jafari, her husband Qeysar Jafari, a taxi driver, and their son Sina. Their two other children, Mohammad Reza and Mehdi, were pulled alive from the rubble and remained hospitalised in stable condition, officials said.
The strike took place in the Chah-Tangu neighbourhood, an area of tightly packed homes on the island in the Strait of Hormuz.
