The representatives of 18 Italian companies have attended a workshop in the Tunisian capital to discuss partnerships in the mechatronics and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sectors.

The members of the Italian delegation also met with Tunisian investors on the sidelines of the workshop, which was organized by the ICE-Italian Trade Promotion Agency, in collaboration with the Italian Association of Mechatronic Automation (AIDAM).

Tunisian Minister of Industry Salim al-Feriani said Wednesday's workshop aimed to explore new opportunities for cooperation between Italy and Tunisia.

It paved way for Italian companies to explore bilateral or multilateral cooperation with Tunisian firms in the mechatronics and ICT sectors, he said.

Italy is among Tunisia’s top trading partners. In the first 10 months of 2019, the European country’s exports to Tunisia rose 8.3 percent while the north African state’s exports to Italy witnessed a 12.3 percent growth.

Over 800 Italian enterprises are active in Tunisia.
