17-foot speedboat dumped at Glasgow waste disposal centre

Glasgow City Council are reminding the public to check which items they can take to their local dump - after one Glaswegian left a speedboat to be disposed of at one of their waste disposal centres.

The 17-foot long Glastron Spirit V165 speedboat was spotted by a member of the public at the weekend.

The council say their waste disposal centres are set-up to receive "a wide range of ordinary household items" - such as bags of household waste, electrical items, mattresses, wood (including small furniture), cardboard, garden waste, textiles and scrap metal.

Unfortunately speedboats do not fall within any such category, and the council say that anyone trying to dispose of such items is "putting an additional strain on the resources required to keep the city's environment in good order".

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: "Our waste centres are set-up to receive a wide range of ordinary household items.

“Anyone attempting dispose of something beyond what is detailed on our website is putting an additional strain on the resources required to keep the city’s environment in good order.”

There are a total of four waste disposal centres in Glasgow located at Dawsholm, Shieldhall, Polmadie and Easter Queenslie.
