US and Russian officials have confirmed that the mooted summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will take place in Helsinki, Finland a little over two weeks from today. The pair is expected to discuss bilateral relations and issues of “national security”, according to White House officials. The meeting has made many Trump allies nervous, both because of political sensitivity within the US and because it is likely to further strain US relations with its NATO allies. Although Trump has met Putin twice since he took office, this is the first official summit between the two leaders.
