14 puppies seized as police and RSPCA raid homes across Liverpool

A joint operation by Merseyside Police and the RSPCA has resulted in 14 puppies being seized.

Police in Knowsley said they had worked in partnership with the animal welfare charity to raid a number of addresses across Liverpool.

During yesterday's the raids, a total of 14 puppies were recovered from the properties.

The reason for the seizure of the dogs is not yet clear as police said they would not be making any further comment while investigations are ongoing.

Knowsley Police posted several photographs of the rescued dogs on Facebook and Twitter, and encouraged people to report any concerns to themselves or the RSPCA.

A spokesperson for Knowsley Police said: "Merseyside Police and the RSPCA have today worked in partnership and executed warrants at a number of properties across the Liverpool area.

"We have seized a total of 14 puppies from the addresses.

"Investigations are currently ongoing in relation to the matter. We cannot make further comments in relation to the incidents or explain anything further as investigations are still ongoing.

"Please report concerns to the RSPCA, the police and your local authority. We will take appropriate action."

The Liverpool ECHO has approached both Merseyside Police and the RSPCA for comment.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: “Warrants were carried out by Merseyside Police and the RSPCA on Thursday, January 14 in the Liverpool area.

“Fourteen dogs have been removed and are now in RSPCA care. We’re unable to comment further while enquiries continue.”
