The Los Angeles Lakers finally got what they have wanted for almost a full year. They are sending three first-round picks, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart to the New Pelicans for Anthony Davis. A massive trade. Here are other enormous trades in sports.

Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers

Manny Ramirez wore out his welcome in Boston after many chances to stay. He was dealt to the Dodgers in a three-team deal that sent OF Jason Bay to Boston and had Pittsburgh Pirates get four minor leaguers. Third baseman Andy LaRoche and right-handed pitcher Bryan Morris went to the Pirates from the Dodgers. Outfielder Brandon Moss and right-handed pitcher Craig Hansen headed from Boston to Pittsburgh in 2008.
Wilt Chamberlain to the Lakers

Another deal that saw another superstar head to Los Angeles, which is a familiar theme. In the 1968 off-season, Wilt Chamberlain was dealt to the Lakers for center Darrall Imhoff, forward Jerry Chambers and guard Archie Clark to Philadelphia, making it the first time a reigning NBA Most Valuable Player was traded the next season.
Frank Robinson to the Orioles

The Reds sent Frank Robinson to the Orioles in a huge 1965 trade that proved disastrous for them. The Reds traded Robinson for pitchers Milt Pappas and Jack Baldschun and the outfielder Dick Simpson. Robinson proved to be a huge star in the American League. The Reds’ haul was less than mediocre, closer to miserable.
Kevin Garnett to the Celtics

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded “The Big Ticket” Kevin Garnett to the Celtics in a deal that sent five players and two picks to the T’Wolves. The details: On July 31, 2007, Garnett was traded for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, cash considerations, Boston’s 2009 first-round draft pick (top 3 protected), and the 2009 first-round pick which Minnesota had traded to Boston in the Ricky Davis–Wally Szczerbiak trade of 2006.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the Lakers

Back to a superstar being dealt to Los Angeles. The Milwaukee Bucks sent Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Walt Wesley to the Lakers in 1975 for Elmore Smith, guard Brian Winters, and rookies Dave Meyers and Junior Bridgeman. The Bucks have yet to win their second championship while the Lakers have won multiple times.
Wayne Gretzky to the Kings

Wayne Gretzky was everything in Edmonton and Canada. Then he was traded, of course, to Los Angeles. The Great One was traded on Aug. 9, 1988, sent to the Los Angeles Kings along with center Mike Krushelnyski and defenseman Marty McSorley. Coming to the Oilers in return were center Jimmy Carson, first-round draft choice Martin Gelinas, first-round picks in 1989, 1991 and 1993, and $15 million.
Alex Rodriguez to the Yankees

Alex Rodriguez was going to Boston, to the Yankees, to the Red Sox, then finally to the Yankees, who sent Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Arias to Texas in 2004.
Herschel Walker to the Vikings

In 1989, at the peak of Herschel Walker’s pro career, the Cowboys sent the running back to Minnesota for five players and six draft picks. The players were LB Jesse Solomon, DB Isiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, and DE Alex Stewart. The picks turned into players such as Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson. A disaster for the Vikings.
Tom Seaver to the Reds

Tom Seaver was “The Franchise” for the Mets. An intense squabble with management led to the unfortunate decision to trade “Tom Terrific” to the Reds. Pat Zachry, Doug Flynn, Steve Henderson and Dan Norman went to New York in 1977. In a coincidence, the Reds played the Mets the weekend after the deal.
Eric Dickerson to the Rams

A player actually leaving Los Angeles in a massive deal. The Rams sent star running back Eric Dickerson to the Colts for three players and six draft picks.
Miguel Cabrera to Tigers

The Marlins sent Miguel Cabrera and pitcher Dontrelle Willis, to Detroit for six players. Cabrera went on to become the first player to win the Triple Crown in decades.
