12 free agents Celtic and Rangers could still sign as transfer window shut

After the closure of the summer transfer window, neither fan base in Glasgow is fully satisfied.

Rangers got a deal done for Bojan Miovski, who could give them extra impetus in attack, but their start to the season has supporters seriously concerned and they still look weak in certain areas.

Celtic may be unbeaten and top of the league, but their fans are furious with the club for their handling of the transfer window after failing to get the required firepower in attacking areas.

Left scrambling around after selling Adam Idah with targeted replacement Kasper Dolberg opting for Ajax, they have signed Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer. They still failed to get the numbers Brendan Rodgers wanted in that position or on the wings.

They can still add further free agents for now and with Rangers in the same boat, we take a look at some who could be potential options.

Patrick Bamford - As revealed by the Herald, Celtic made contact with the freed Leeds United striker after failing to land a striker on deadline day. They've since signed Kelechi Iheanacho, bit given Brendan Rodgers ideally wanted two centre forwards, could they still move for Bamford?

Emmanuel Dennis - Another free agent name that has been on the Parkhead radar. Also been a previous target of Rangers and can operate on either wing as well as through the middle, which could appeal to Brendan Rodgers.

Josh Brownhill - Former Burnley captain is another who has been linked with both clubs on the past. Was also wanted by clubs in Italy as his contract dwindled down, but remains without a home.

Sasa Zdjelar - The Serbian midfielder was linked to Rangers as recently as January this year. Now a free agent after a short spell at Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Christian Eriksen - The classy Dane is very much in his twilight years but could still have plenty to offer.

Jamal Lewis - Rangers have been left with just Jayden Meghoma as a senior left-back, ahtough loan signing Derek Cornelius can cover there if needed. Ex-Norwich and Newcastle man Lewis is a potential option if Russell Martin wants to look at the free agent market.

Delle Alli - Has often been mentioned for both clubs in the past but possibly one to be wary of given his lack of football over recent years. Played just once for Como.

Ianis Hagi - Would a return to Rangers be out of the question given he is still without a club?

Jordan Amavi - Another possible left-back option for Martin following his release from Stade Brestois.

Tom Glover - Rangers had been keen on more goalkeeping cover and Glover is a free agent after leaving Middlesbrough.

Hakim Ziyech - Celtic could still look for options on the right hand side and former Chelsea star Ziyech is full of quality. Just left Al-Duhail SC in Qatar.

Anwar El Ghazi - Also a potential option on that right flank. Former Netherlands international and Aston Villa star was with Cardiff last season as they were relegated to League One.
