£10K raised in hours for 'beautiful Elle May' killed in pub shooting

Almost £10,000 has been raised in a few hours for the family of Elle Edwards who was killed in a shooting on Christmas Eve.

Elle was celebrating with her friends and sister at the Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey Village on Christmas Eve when she was shot shortly before midnight. A gunman fired multiple shots towards the front entrance, hitting her in the head and wounding four other men.

Police have confirmed the 26-year-old beautician was not believed to have been the intended target of the shooting. Police confirmed a 30-year-old man from Tranmere was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. A 19-year-old woman from Rock Ferry has also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Both of the suspects remain in custody and are being questioned by officers. The police cordon in Wallasey Village remains in place outside The Lighthouse pub and over the main carriageway.

Elle's sister-in-law, Kirby Fraser, created a GoFundMe page on Tuesday, December 27, to raise money for her family during this difficult time.

The post attached to the page said: "Elle Marlene Edwards. You will always be with us, your bright smile and your infectious laugh will never be forgotten.

"Due to the devastating incident that occurred on Christmas Eve, which resulted in the tragic loss of our beautiful Elle May, I would like to help raise money for our family during these difficult times."

In just four hours almost £10k has been raised for the family with hundreds of people leaving heartfelt tributes on the page.

Rebecca Lea said: "Rest in peace Elle May, you were a beautiful kind soul taken far too soon."

Cheryl Henderson said: "Beautiful Elle taken for to soon in such a heartbreaking situation Sending lots of love to her family, this is such a cruel world rest in peace beautiful Angel."

Dawn Hudson said: "My son dean was out with Elle the night it happened he’s a good friend of hers, it’s so sad I got woke up to the bad news by Dean. RIP ELLE beautiful girl. Her poor family thoughts are with them xx"

Merseyside Police is appealing for any dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage from anyone who lives, works or was in the area of Wallasey Village on Christmas Eve.
