1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton reveals strange way she discovered second pregnancy

1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton has spoken candidly about her second pregnancy, admitting she only found out she was expecting after becoming constipated for three weeks.

The 35-year-old TV star announced she was pregnant with her second child with husband Michael Halterman in January last year and the couple welcomed their son Glenn in July.

Amy, who appears on the TLC reality show with sister Tammy Slaton, recently took to Instagram to celebrate her son's six-month milestone, sharing a series of adorable pictures of her baby.

In a new clip from 1000-lb Sisters, Amy has now revealed how she found out about her pregnancy.

The star said there was a "big surprise" for viewers and that her and Michael has been "holding out for a while" with the news.

"Well, we’re expecting another child," Michael gushed.

"Baby number two, we’ve been calling it Beanie. We don’t know what it is yet," Amy added in a clip shared with Metro.co.uk.

Speaking in a confessional, Amy revealed: "Two years ago I was pregnant with Gage because I went to the ER because I was so constipated. And with this one, I was like, 'Babe, I haven’t pooped in three weeks! I'm pregnant'."

Constipation is a common side effect of pregnancy and can continue to affect the mother up to six weeks after giving birth.

Gushing about her son on social media, Amy wrote: "This boy so smart he hit every milestone and some.

"Right now he is working on crawling he can get his knee up right then he leap. Or army crawls."

Amy's baby news comes after sister Tammy was rushed to hospital when she stopped breathing in her weight loss rehabilitation centre, before vowing not to let her body "defeat" her.

Tammy was put on a ventilator and placed in a medically induced coma, with her loved ones told to prepare themselves for the worst.

Despite her body "shutting down", she survived and was even well enough to return to the rehab centre for the fourth series of her show.

Her near-death experience has shocked her into realising the fragility of life, and made her realise that she needs to make changes in order to avoid another health scare.

She told People magazine: "My near-death experience has taught me not to take life for granted."

"I now live my life how I want to and not how others want me to," she added.

The new season of the TLC series 1000-lb. Sisters will premiere on January 17 at 9pm.
