2022-2024 Honda Pilot

  • 2024 Honda Pilot Starting Price: $38,540

The 2026 Honda Pilot will feature a redesign, meaning current generation models will take a major depreciation hit when dealers start clearing inventory this fall, said Marc Skirvin, president and co-founder of Cash Auto Salvage.

“These SUVs are rock-solid reliable with proven V6 engines and transmissions that rarely give problems,” he said. “We hardly ever see Pilots in our salvage yard from mechanical failures — they usually show up from accidents or flood damage; not breakdowns.”

2021-2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid

  • Used 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid Starting Price: $27,311

“Camry Hybrids are poised to see lower prices as consumer interest in pure electric vehicles grows and dealers look to unload older hybrid selection,” Skirvin said. “These cars are incredibly durable, with Toyota’s reliable hybrid powertrain that has no problems reaching 200,000 miles.”

He said this is the perfect choice for buyers looking for fuel economy, without having to deal with a charging infrastructure.

2022-2024 Subaru Outback

  • 2024 Subaru Outback Starting Price: $30,240

“Subaru will update the Outback for the 2026 model year, and that’s making now prime time for buyers to get substantial discounts on current models,” Skirvin said. “These wagons are extremely reliable, have awesome AWD [all-wheel drive] systems and naturally aspirated power plants to avoid potential turbo issues.”

The Subaru Outback is a great option for families who want a versatile, reliable vehicle with plenty of cargo room, but without the complexity of a more modern, turbocharged rival, he said.

2021-2023 Mazda CX-5

  • Used 2023 Mazda CX-5 Starting Price: $23,258

“CX-5 prices will drop as new competitors enter the compact SUV market and Mazda introduces updated versions,” Skirvin said. “These crossovers offer excellent reliability with simple, proven powertrains that don’t break down,” he said.”

This can be a smart choice for those seeking reliable transportation, without paying a premium for overly complicated modern features, he said.

BMW 5-Series Hybrid

  • 2025 BMW 5-Series Hybrid Starting Price: $59,875

Already at a discount, the 2025 BMW 5-Series Hybrid is down around 13% to 14% in the used market, said Lauren Fix, founder of Car Coach Reports. This might seem like an incredible discount, but she said even deeper price cuts are expected.

Ford Explorer Hybrid

  • 2025 Ford Explorer Hybrid Starting Price: $41,450

Another option for a hybrid SUV, Fix said the 2025 Ford Explorer Hybrid has also experienced a 13% to 14% price drop in the used market. She said additional price decreases are expected.

Tesla Models S, Y, 3, and X

  • 2025 Tesla Model S Starting Price: $81,880
  • 2025 Tesla Model Y Starting Price: $46,880
  • 2025 Tesla Model 3 Starting Price: $44,130
  • 2025 Tesla Model X Starting Price: $86,880

“Tesla vehicles are seeing among the biggest used price declines,” Fix said.

If you’re looking for an electric vehicle, a used Tesla might offer more than just gas savings. She said prices on used Model S vehicles are currently down roughly 16% to17%, while used Model Y vehicles are seeing around a 14% price decline.
