10 Liverpool players who could leave as Jurgen Klopp finalises summer overhaul

As many as 10 senior players could leave Liverpool by the time the transfer window closes in October.

The Premier League winners have been busy in the transfer market this week, sealing deals for both Bayern Munich playmaker Thiago Alcantara and Wolves striker Diogo Jota.

Thiago arrives after leading Bayern to Champions League success, joining in a potential £26million deal.

And Portugal international Jota has agreed a five-year deal at Anfield, in a switch worth a potential £45million.

Ki-Jana Hoever, the young Dutch defender, has already departed, heading to Molineux in a potential £13million deal.

But that will certainly not be the end of Liverpool's business in the coming weeks, with the club now looking to move out a number of fringe players.

The question is whether sporting director Michael Edwards will stand firm on prices, or is willing to deal for a number of players at lower figures, in a bid to get them out the door?

Both Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic, back from loans at Bournemouth and Hertha BSC last term, are available and valued at £20million. Neither has much chance of a first-team future at Anfield.

Nat Phillips, fifth choice for a centre-back spot can also go if a buyer can be found, with the same going for Loris Karius and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Then there is Divock Origi, a cult figure following his exploits in the Champions League but who is at a crossroads in his career and has fallen down the pecking order with the arrivals of Takumi Minamino and now Jota.

Young striker Rhian Brewster, wanted by Sheffield United, is set to depart, either on loan or a permanent deal with a buyback option, while young left-back Yasser Larouci can also go.

There also remain questions over both Gini Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in midfield.

The arrival of Thiago is likely to squeeze the respective minutes of both.

Barcelona are keen on Wijnaldum, who has a year left on his deal but is happy to see out his contract and whom Liverpool aren’t actively looking to sell; there are also major questions over Barca’s finances.

And Oxlade-Chamberlain, now 27, is in need of regular first-team football if he’s to make England’s European Championship squad next summer.

He made 43 appearances in all competitions last term, but only 25 of those were starts and he completed 90 minutes only once.

Klopp is happy to keep both at the club, but with Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones, cannot guarantee minutes, especially in the case of the ex-Arsenal man.
