1 killed, 13 wounded in shootings in Chicago Tuesday

One person was killed and 13 others were wounded in shootings Tuesday in Chicago.

  • A robber was killed and another man was critically wounded inside a business in Greater Grand Crossing on the South Side around 5 p.m. The shooting happened around 5 p.m. when two robbers entered the business in the 300 block of East 71st Street, police said. One of the robbers pulled out a gun and fired. The other robber, 34, was hit in the neck and pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. A 24-year-old man inside the business was shot multiple times and was taken to the University of Chicago in critical condition, police said.
  • A teen was wounded in West Pullman on the Far South Side. The 17-year-old was leaving a residence in the 12400 block of South Perry Avenue about 6:20 p.m. when three people got out of a dark-colored vehicle and opened fire, striking him in the lower chest, police said. He was taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition.
  • Hours earlier, a man was wounded on the Dan Ryan Expressway. He was shot around 11:55 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 94 near 84th Street, according to the Illinois State Police. The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. State police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Ten others were wounded in shootings in the city.
