1 crore Rajasthan kids sing patriotic songs to create 'world record'

JAIPUR: Rajasthan government on Friday claimed that the state created a world record with one crore students of government and private schools collectively singing patriotic songs from 10.15 am to 10.45am.

In Jaipur, around 25,000-30,000 students participated at SMS Stadium in the presence of chief minister Ashok Gehlot, state education minister and other officials.

In the series of programmes going on under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, students of all schools participated directly and indirectly in the programme organised by the department of education and art and culture and collectively sang patriotic songs.

Children sang the national song 'Vande Mataram' and national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' along with patriotic numbers like 'Saare Jahan Se Achcha', 'Hum Honge Kamyab' among others.

A statement released by the state information department mentioned that on the occasion, vice-president of World Book of Records Pratham Bhalla presented chief minister Gehlot with a provisional certificate of the world record made by students and people of the state.

Congratulating the education department, Gehlot said, "A new environment is being created in the state by collective singing of patriotic songs by more than one crore children.

Today, three-fourths of the population in India is the youth and the new generation will get a chance to imbibe patriotic feelings through these songs. Let us all send a message to the world by hoisting the tricolour at our homes that there is a unique spirit of patriotism in India."

BD Kalla, state education minister said, "Our nation is the biggest centre of faith for every common man. Due to the hard struggle of the freedom fighters, our country got freedom from the British."
