PALAKKAD: The district on Thursday reported 1,050 new Covid-19 positive cases while 1,061 people recovered from the disease, taking the total number people under treatment in the district to 5,176.
Of the new patients, 650 contracted the disease through local transmission. The source of infection in as many as 387 people remains unknown. Thirteen healthcare workers are also among those tested positive.
A total of 9,794 samples were sent for testing in the last 24 hours in the district and the test positivity rate in the district was 10.72%, the health department officials said.
Meanwhile, the neighbouring Malappuram district recorded 1,561 cases and Thrissur reported 1,304 new positive cases.
