The View co-hosts skewer Tucker Carlson for having ‘liar’s remorse’ after apology about Trump support

“You know, we’ll be tormented by it for a long time. I will be,” Carlson said before adding, “And I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people. It was not intentional. That’s all I’ll say.”

The View’s panelists did not take kindly to Carlson’s apology. After a clip of his mea culpa played during Tuesday morning’s broadcast, Joy Behar uttered a simple, “Oh, please,” before Sunny Hostin jumped in.

“Whatever. I don't believe him. He's not getting a bear hug from me,” Hostin said. “The world's on fire, and you can't just say, ‘Oopsies!’”

Adding to her commentary, Behar shared her belief that Carlson has “what they call liar's remorse.”

“He's lied about everything, so he needs to make a list of all the things he got wrong — not just, ‘Sorry!’” she continued.

Behar and Hostin’s colleagues seemed to think Carlson’s apology was disingenuous.

Sara Haines claimed Carlson would “say anything” for “clicks and money,” while former Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed, saying, “I don't think this is a true about-face.”

The Independent has contacted Carlson for comment.

Carlson’s apology comes as he continues to hit out at Trump over Operation Epic Fury. Addressing his remorse on his show Monday, he told his sibling: “You and I and everyone else who supported him, you wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him, I mean we’re implicated in this for sure.

“It’s not enough to say, ‘I changed my mind.’ Or like, ‘Oh this is bad, I’m out,’” Carlson continued. “It’s like, in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now.”

After issuing his apology, Carlson pivoted toward attacking Trump, saying there were “signs of low character.” Carlson and his brother then went on to question the president’s loyalty to anyone other than his very wealthiest donors.

“The only people he has been loyal to are the neocons and his donors,” Carlson said bitterly.

Carlson tends to be a target for The View’s panelists, so much so that Ana Navarro led the show’s studio audience in joyful song when he parted ways with Fox News in 2023.
