The Daily Show ridicules Trump’s ‘bachelor party’ of CEOs on trip to China

The Daily Show correspondent Jordan Klepper roasted Donald Trump over the parade of billionaire CEOs who accompanied him on his trip to China.

Trump touched down Wednesday in Beijing for a three-day state visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss trade, technology, and regional security involving Iran and Taiwan. The president was joined by a slew of CEOs, most notably Tesla’s Elon Musk, Apple’s Tim Cook and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, as well as other members of the Trump family and administration officials.

However, just as he was about to depart for his high-stakes trip, Trump lashed out at a reporter who asked about the spiraling cost of his ballroom. “ I doubled the size of it, you dumb person,” he insisted. “You are not a smart person.”

Reacting to the clip, Klepper joked: “Calm down, Mr. President. Go to your happy place.” A picture of Trump alongside convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein appeared on screen, with the comedian quipping: “Well, not literally. That party is over, and your wingman is MIA.” Trump has consistently and vehemently denied being “friendly” with Epstein.

“The point is, I think both Trump and us could benefit from this time apart. I mean, nothing wrong with a little break. Get some distance,” Klepper continued. “Reset. You know what? You can take your boys with you.”

“That’s your crew? Those are your boys? Not exactly the Rat Pack here, is it?” he laughed, referring to Musk, Cook and Huang. “That’s the kind of bachelor party that makes a stripper want to get her life back in order.”

Klepper’s comments come a week after fellow Daily Show host Jon Stewart trolled Trump over his constant boasting about his cognitive health.

Trump, who turns 80 next month, has been insistent that he is still perfectly healthy, both in body and mind. He has claimed on numerous occasions that he has “aced” multiple cognitive tests and is sharper than any previous president.

While Trump clearly sees the number of tests he’s taken to be a point of pride, Stewart saw it differently. He challenged the president to consider that doctors demanding he take a stream of cognitive tests might suggest something other than top-tier mental acuity.

“Why do you think that you’re the only president that that happens to?” Stewart asked. “That for some reason, every time you go to the doctor, which is a lot, the doctor is always like, ‘Hey, while you’re here... Could you come over here quickly and explain which one is the bear?’”

The Independent has contacted the White House for comment.
