Magic Johnson is thrilled that he’s finally allowed to tweet about Kawhi Leonard

It cannot be stated enough that upon abruptly resigning from his role as Lakers president of basketball operations, Magic Johnson specifically said that he wanted to be able to tweet more.

Now, if we remember a time when Johnson tweeted freely about the NBA without the risk of anti-tampering rules, he generally stated the obvious while ending every tweet with an exclamation point.

It was fine then because Magic Johnson was just enjoying life as a rich, famous dude on the Twitter Machine. But now that Magic Johnson quit a powerful front-office job with the Lakers just to tweet, there was reasonable expectation that the move would bring insightful, honest content on his Twitter account.

Who am I kidding? That was never going to happen.

Following the Raptors’ series-evening win in Game 4 on Sunday, Johnson — now free to tweet about Kawhi Leonard — tweeted about Kawhi Leonard.

Again, HE QUIT HIS JOB TO TWEEET THIS.

This man is a legend and shall be treated as such.

It doesn’t matter that his tweet lacked complexities — like, choose a winner, Magic! Be bold — or anything beyond the obvious. He wasn’t allowed to tweet about Kawhi Leonard all season, and now that he can, he wants his 4.7 million followers to know that Kawhi Leonard is good and scored 39 points.

This sums it up well:

At least the exclamation point has made a triumphant return.
