Charlie Kirk’s previous criticisms of Nicki Minaj have resurfaced on social media, just hours after the rapper appeared alongside his widow at a Turning Point USA event.
ICYMI, Nicki was one of several guests to appear at the annual convention in Arizona for Turning Point USA — the conservative organisation co-founded by Charlie and now headed by his wife, Erika Kirk, in the wake of his death earlier this year,
While Nicki’s appearance at the convention was gobsmacking in its own right, given her previous criticisms of the Trump administration, fans have now rediscovered Charlie’s comments about Nicki dating back to 2024.

In a clip that has gone viral since Nicki’s Turning Point USA appearance, Charlie is seen at a campus debate saying Nicki and other female rappers are not “a good role model for 18-year-old Black girls”.
“Black culture is being held captive by influences, songs, and role models,” Charlie said in the clip. Though he mentioned Nicki by name, Charlie seemingly confused her for fellow musician Cardi B, since he went on to reference that rapper’s 2020 song “WAP”.
“I don’t think that songs that are talking about glorifying wet female genitalia — I don’t know which one wrote that song,” Charlie said.
While the clip of Charlie’s criticisms has since done the rounds in the wake of Nicki’s foray into conservative politics, Charlie had previously sung praises for the rapper, according to screenshots by right-wing pundit Candace Owens after his death.
“When Nicky drops I lose my mind,” Charlie texted Candace in 2018, in reference to Nicki’s verse on the Kanye West track “Monster”.
Where Charlie stood on Nicki before his death remains unclear, but the rapper was nonetheless complimentary of both him and the Trump administration during her appearance at the Turning Point USA event.
In another viral moment, Nicki told Erika in front of the convention crowd that US Vice President JD Vance is like an “assassin” — a poor choice of words that prompted an embarrassed reaction from Nicki before Erika came to her rescue.
Charlie was fatally shot during a campus speaking event at Utah Valley University in September.
“Trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard, so you’re fine … I love you. You have to laugh about it, truly,” Erika replied.
