Law & Order star Christopher Meloni has mocked Donald Trump’s latest comments on the Iran war, taking aim at the president in a scathing social media post.
The actor, 65, issued his takedown after Trump shared a Truth Social post Tuesday claiming that “oil is flowing like never before” as the U.S. and Iran fight over the Strait of Hormuz following a failed peace deal.
“ChatGTP, write me the most panicked deranged, fantastical tweet you can,” Meloni wrote Wednesday on X, referring to the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT.
The White House did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment.
In Trump’s lengthy post, he announced that the U.S. Military would resume a full naval blockade against Iran, saying, “and that is because of their lying, violent, malicious leadership, which is taking them down the path of TOTAL DESTRUCTION.”

After ranting about the blockade, the president added: “Based on highly productive conversations with Middle East leadership, I have decided to replace the 20% United States Reimbursement Fee with Trade and Investment Deals that the various Gulf States will be making into the United States.”
“Those Investments will be MASSIVE but, at the same time, extraordinarily good for them, and their future,” he continued. “As everyone is aware, we have the largest Dollar Investment into the United States, of any Country in History, but these new Investments will make that Number even larger, and we will see Factories, Plants, and Equipment pour into the United States at Historic levels, which will create additional millions of High Paying AMERICAN Jobs! America is WINNING again, winning like never before.”
Meloni — who is known for playing NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler on the NBC legal drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit alongside his co-star Mariska Hargitay — is a frequent critic of Trump, whom he referred to in a recent X post as “the bloated dementia patient who has grifted $3B from his lofty position.”
As a frequent poster on X and Instagram, the actor usually calls out Trump and members of the administration at least once a week.
Last week, Meloni aimed a dig at Trump by saying he looked bad in comparison to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney after Carney spoke at the Nato summit in Turkey.
“Watching Mark Carney of Canada speak at Nato to reporters vs the bloated #1 Epstein client is… Class vs crass, Knowledge vs stupefying ignorance, Unflappable vs child in mid tantrum, Formidable vs weak pretender,” he wrote. “Well played Canada.”
