The PGA Tour’s first official event in Japan is underway at the inaugural Zozo Championship at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan.
The winner will take home $1.75 million. In all, there is a $9.75 million purse up for grabs. The tournament has a 78-man field and there is no cut in this event, which features some marquee groups:
- Tiger Woods, Satoshi Kodaira and Tommy Fleetwood
- Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott
- Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele
- Patrick Reed, Jason Day and Tony Finau

Tiger Woods and Gary Woodland lead at 6 under after the first round. The pair hold a one-stroke lead over Hideki Matsuyama at 5 under. Daniel Berger, Sung Kang and Ryan Palmer sit in a three-way tie for third at 3 under.
The second round of the Zozo Championship begins at 7 a.m. in Japan, but 6 p.m. EDT for viewers in the United States. The PGA Tour announced during the first round that the second round tee times would be moved up by one hour.
Golf Channel announced Thursday afternoon it shifted its live coverage from 10 p.m. EDT, to 7 p.m. EDT so viewers in the United States can watch live coverage.
