Zombie Michael Healy Rae, Mad Scientist Boris Johnson and ghoulish Lady Gaga expected to be popular Halloween costumes

Halloween party-goers are most likely dress up as a Zombie Michael Healy Rae, a Mad Scientist Boris Johnson or a ghoulish Lady Gaga a new survey has found.

On the other hand revellers are least likely to imitate swing-gate TD Maria Bailey, DUP leader Arlene Foster or arch-brexiteer Nigel Farage.

While MMA fighter Conor McGregor might be a knockout in the octagon he barely registered in the poll and was especially unpopular among older voters.

There will also be plenty of Donald Trump impersonators around tonight but are they are unlikely to be anyway near as scary as the real thing.

Both Boris Johnson and the US President were the most popular picks for men, with international superstar Lady Gaga by far the biggest choice for Irish women, the survey by Lottoland found.

It also revealed that swing-gate TD Maria Bailey, celebrity judge Louis Walsh and Brexit villain Nigel Farage as the least popular spooky picks.

Overall, the most popular personality to dress up as is Lady Gaga and the mega star was particularly popular amongst nearly half of female voters.

The perma-tanned US President Trump came in next with his largest support coming from Irish males.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson came in third with his biggest support coming from the oldest over 65 age group.

The highest ranking Irish celebrity was the colourful Kerry TD Michael Healy Rae who perhaps unsurprisingly got his highest support from Munster people.

The least popular personalities in the survey was Brexit party pooper and DUP leader Arlene Foster, along with X-Factor’s Louis Walsh followed by Swing-gate TD Maria Bailey.

Lottoland Ireland’s Country Manager Graham Ross said “While it’s fair to say that 2019 as a whole has often resembled a bit of a Halloween preview for Irish people, with Brexit scares, Trump terrors, Dublin’s GAA five in a row nightmares for non Dubs fans.

“With Ireland’s Rugby World Cup horror show, it was interesting to see who we all would plump for in the fancy dress stakes to reflect the times we live in.

“It was no surprise to see the ever quirky Lady Gaga top the polls for the ladies, while looking at mistakes, it is no surprise to see the much parodied politicians in Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and our own lovable rogue in Michael Healy-Rae heading the list.

“Hopefully, the dressed up versions of this eclectic list of 2019’s most infamous celebrities have a Halloween to remember.”
