Zoë Kravitz reveals how she wrecked Taylor Swift’s bathroom while rescuing her mum’s pet snake

Zoë Kravitz has told how she was forced to “destroy” part of Taylor Swift’s bathroom in a frantic bid to rescue her mother’s pet snake.

The Big Little Lies star, 36, was staying at the pop superstar’s Los Angeles home earlier this year after wildfires forced her to evacuate. Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, Kravitz said she and her mother, actress Lisa Bonet, had been there for two weeks when disaster struck.

Bonet’s pet snake, Orpheus, escaped after she briefly put it down, slithering into a gap in the corner of Swift’s bathroom.

“The hole is next to a banquette that is built into the wall,” Kravitz explained, adding that she walked in to find her mother crouched over, holding the reptile’s tail.

When attempts to pull Orpheus free failed, Swift’s house manager suggested dismantling the built-in furniture. “I was like, ‘Either we destroy her bathroom or I have to tell her there’s a snake somewhere in her house,’” Kravitz recalled.

She and Bonet opted for the first option, ripping up tiles and scratching the walls to get the snake out. “I told the house manager, ‘Obviously I’ll pay for everything. Just don’t say anything until it’s fixed,’” she laughed.

But Swift — whose 1930s property Kravitz had been keen to “preserve and take care of” — was already in on the secret.

“I remember calling her saying, ‘Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something,’” Kravitz said. “And she was like, ‘Is it the fact you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?’”

Kravitz and Swift’s friendship dates back to at least 2016, when they were first spotted dining together in New York.

They grew closer during the 2020 pandemic, with Kravitz calling Swift “her pod” in London – offering home‑cooked meals and birthday comfort.

Swift, in turn, has lauded Kravitz’s creative integrity and praised her role in The Batman as “phenomenal.”

Kravitz even earned a co‑writing and background vocals credit on Swift’s Midnights track “Lavender Haze,” after Swift insisted on recognizing her contribution.

It remains to be seen whether Kravitz will feature on Swift’s latest record after she announced on Tuesday that her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, is dropping later this year.
