Zoe Ball updates listeners after leaving part way through BBC Radio 2 Show

Zoe Ball has addressed her absence on BBC Radio 2 after listeners questioned where she was. The presenter was missing from her show on Monday, April 4 with Richie Anderson taking her place.

Richie explained the 51-year-old was running late for her 6.30am start due to having a flat tyre, with Richie covering until she took back the reins at around 6.50am. Zoe then returned but shortly after she left again.

Arriving on air, Zoe said: "Morning gang, sorry for being late. Bit of a drama on a Monday morning. Nothing like that to start you off on your week. Richie, what a star."

But shortly after Richie took back over, and explained: "I'm Richie Anderson and I'm in because Zoe's not feeling too well, unfortunately. So she's had to go home which means you're stuck with me. We are sending Zo loads of love."

Richie continued to present until 8.30am before Ken Bruce came on air an hour before his scheduled slot. Following the show, Zoe took to Twitter to explain what had happened.

She wrote: "Apologies for this morning gang, tyre went on the way in to work. I was so keen not miss the show, dashed in and hadn't quite realised the effect it'd had on me.

"I'm ok. thanks for the lovely messages. big thanks to Richie and Ken for stepping in. will be back tomorrow."

Messages of support came flooding in and Radio 2's official Twitter replied with a love heart.," reports Manchester Evening News.

One Twitter user responded: "Must have shocked you big time. Poor thing. The boys did well in your absence.Just worried for your well-being. Glad you messaged to say you’re ok now."

While another added: "Thank you for updating us. I was seriously worried about you. Hope you have time to fully wind down from the earlier stress. Take care." For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
